Science and Technology Development Doesn’t Stop: Agriculture

The secretary of farming and Rural Development, Víctor Villalobos Arámbula, participated virtually in the 2021 National Meetings for Research and Innovation in Livestock, Agriculture, Forestry and Aquaculture-Fisheries, which contribute to the development of science and technology for the field.

Mexico City, November 15, 2021.- The development of Science and Technology In Mexico it does not stop, even in difficult situations such as the pandemic, to promote innovations in the production of food, raw materials and conservation of natural resources, for the benefit of producers and society, highlighted the Secretary of Agriculture and Rural Development, Víctor Villalobos Arambula.

He commented that scientific advances, technological developments and innovation proposals in the field of primary production in Mexico and the world continue to advance, with broad institutional collaboration.

In difficult situations, Mexicans have taken the breed and the development of science and technology for the field, pride of Mexico, is no exception, he said during his virtual participation in the National Meetings for Research and Innovation in Livestock, Agriculture, Forestry and Aquaculture-Fisheries 2021.

At the event, coordinated by the National Institute of Forestry, Agricultural and Livestock Research (INIFAP), the official pointed out that, motivated by the slogan Science to Live, in a critical environment caused by COVID-19, more than 20 institutions decided to organize Scientific Meetings 2021.

Science provides safe and healthy food

Villalobos Arámbula highlighted the vast quantity and quality of summaries that make up the respective reports and the participation of the institutions that made these meetings possible, for the benefit of the countryside and the country.

He expressed that the scientific meetings are annual meetings of the livestock, agricultural, forestry and aquaculture-fishing subsectors, which summon researchers, teachers, technicians, producers, students, organizations and companies related to the field, to publicize the advances in production of food, raw materials and conservation of natural resources.

He stressed that science provides healthy and safe food, protects biodiversity and offers clean air and water. The INIFAP -decentralized organization of Agriculture- has signed more than one hundred national and international agreements with different entities, so that the bonding of the institutions is key to moving forward and solving the challenges in the sector.

The general coordinator of Rural Development of the Ministry of Agriculture, Salvador Fernández Rivera, described the organization process of the previous national meetings, and mentioned the strengthened work with the convened institutions, which aims to improve productivity, competitiveness, sustainability and equity of the sector’s value chains.

The director of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Zootechnics of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), Francisco Suárez Güemes, expressed that the dissemination of research results and the link with producers, businessmen and teachers, among others, will contribute to the construction of one of the most competitive sectors in the country.
