Olson drives in 5 and gets his sixth hit with six HR Braves

ATLANTA — Michaek Soroka hit his first home start in nearly three years, Matt Olsen homered twice and drove in five runs and the NL-leading Atlanta Braves earned their sixth straight win over the Miami Marlins 16-4 on Friday.

Ronald Acuna Jr., Eddie Rosario, Austin Riley and Sean Murphy also hit 153 homers for the Braves, the most in the majors. They added 61 in June, a franchise record in a single month, surpassing the 56 in June 2019.

Soroka (1-1) stood on the mound at home for the first time since Aug. 3, 2020, after tearing his Achilles tendon. It was his first game with fans at Troost Park since 2019, a year in which he went 13-4 with a 2.68 ERA and finished sixth in Cy Young voting for All-Star consideration.

Miami’s Luis Ares, the major league batting leader, finished 1-for-4 and his average dropped to .390.

Marlins, Venezuela Luis Ares 4-1. Cuban Jorge Soler went 3-1 with a run and an RBI. Dominicans Brian de la Cruz 4-1, Jesus Sanchez 4-1 with one run and three RBI.

For the Braves, Venezuela’s Ronald Acuna Jr. had a triple and two RBI in a 3-2 win over Orlando Arcia. Dominican Marcel Ozuna scored a run to make it 4-1. Puerto Rican Eddie Rosario went 4-1 with one run and three RBI.
