Yankees Offer Offer To Blake Snell (Report)

The Yankees landed Dominican superstar Juan Jose Soto in a trade with the Padres earlier in the offseason, adding a much-needed left-handed hitter to a lineup full of righties. But circulation is one area they can't overlook in winter.

Japanese right-hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto was announced as a New York bid, but the pitcher disagreed with the Dodgers. MLB Network analyst Jon Heyman wrote in the New York Post that the Yankees have given Blake Snell a “starting opportunity.” The details aren't known, but Heyman says there's a “significant difference” between the two sides.

If Snell joins the Bombers, the 2023 National League Cy Young winner will join Gerrit Cole, who won the same award on the Young circuit, in the rotation. According to Heyman, Cole “agrees” to bring Snell.

While there has been some speculation that the pitcher could sign with the West Coast team, Heyman writes that the Yankees believe the left-hander would prefer to pitch in New York, given his roots in Seattle.

The Giants and Angels could be the Yankees' main rivals in a bid for Snell, while the Phillies have also expressed some interest.
