WWE WrestleMania 40 Results Night 1 – Rock and Roman Reigns defeated Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins

WWE hosted the first night of WrestleMania 40 on Saturday from Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.

Coco Jones sang the US National Anthem.




Triple H comes out. Triple H summed it up: “Welcome to a new era, welcome to a new era, welcome to WrestleMania!”

Rhea Ripley defeated Becky Lynch to retain the Women's World ChampionshipOne. Lynch's entry includes excerpts from his screenplay. The band Motionless in White played Ripley's theme to the ring.

Ripley wins after Rip Tide against Corner, followed by another one on the canvas.

Six Pack Ladder Match: Finn Balor & Damian Priest vs. Johnny Gargano & Tommaso Ciampa vs. The Miz & R-Truth Vs. Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods vs. Austin Theory & Grayson Waller vs. Pete Dunne & Tyler Bad




The Raw and SmackDown belts were held on separate fixtures, and now the belts are once again separated by brand.

– Austin Theory and Grayson Waller won the SmackDown Tag Team Championship when they grabbed the straps mid-match.

– In the end, R-Truth & The Miz won the Raw Tag Team Championship. McDonagh intervened, but it wasn't enough. Miz stops the priest from climbing the ladder, but the priest pushes him off the ladder. Truth then catches the straps.

Rey Mysterio and Andrade (w/LWO) defeated Santos Escobar and Dominic Mysterio (w/Legado Del Fantasma). Everyone intervened. Eventually Escobar went after Rey as Dom grabbed a steel chair. Two guys in a Philadelphia Eagles themed Rey Mysterio frustrated Dom and threw him into the ring.

Ray beat both Dominick and Escobar with 619. Andrade took Dom out with his new finisher and splashed Rey Escobar for the win.

The masked men revealed themselves as Jason Kelce and the Eagles' Lane Johnson and the crowd erupted.

Jey Uso on Jimmy Uso. Jimmy begs for mercy in the final moments and Jay relents but catches him with a kick. Jey then recovers and hits a splash for the win.




Bianca Belaire, Naomi and Jade Cargill defeated Dakota Kai, Asuka and Kairi Chan Eventually Asuka accidentally throws blue fire at Sane. Naomi and Belair hit their moves on Asuka and Sane respectively, and Jade finished the arm with a splash before picking up the win.

Backstage, Chad Gable tells Sami Zayn to come out for his fight, but he already knows he owes him one. Kevin Owens hugs Sami before coming to the ring.

Sami defeated Zayn Gunther to be crowned the new Intercontinental Champion. Gunther keeps Sami under control and launches himself off the third rope several times, but he doesn't catch him. Sami recovers and hits a Brain Buster followed by Helluva Kicks. Sami follows up with two more helluva kicks and irons him for the win. Later, Sami celebrated with his wife.

In the main event, The Rock and Roman Reigns defeated Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins Eventually Roman drives a spear through the barricade on Rollins. Cody is left alone until he finally gets a Spear from Roman, followed by a Rock Bottom and People's Elbow.

Rock celebrates winning his Memorial Championship and Roman with The Undisputed.
