Based on the uncertainty and multiple comments created by the audio, the US space agency clarified that the simulation was transmitted from the audio channel through which the crew was training.

“There is no emergency aboard the International Space Station,” NASA clarified.

The agency explained that the exchange, made at 5:28 pm CDT, was an inadvertent departure from an ongoing exercise.

With these types of operations, “crew members and ground crews train for various scenarios in space that are not necessarily related to an actual emergency,” the agency added.
