Biden returns to the wheel of an electric truck

Joe Biden got behind the wheel again, and did it like a flash.

The president, who describes himself as a “car lover,” drove a new Ford F-150 Lightning during his visit to the company’s safety testing center in Michigan on Tuesday, as part of a tour promoting his $ 2 trillion infrastructure drive plan.

Ford showed off its new electric vehicle during Biden’s visit to the Rog Electric Vehicle Center in Dearborn, where these units will be produced.

“This car is fast,” the president said as he approached the press unit. Then he warned them: “I will hit the gas and go 80 mph (123 km / h).”

The speed wasn’t that great, but it started quickly, but without the noise, being an electric car.

Ford says the Lightning accelerates from 0 to 96 km / h (60 mph) in 4.5 seconds.

The truck will be officially unveiled on Wednesday evening. Ford was still the car covered in white and black camouflage.

Biden is the son of a car salesman and his well-known love for vehicles has featured prominently in some public messages while he was Vice President during Barack Obama’s tenure in the White House, and also during his candidacy for the 2020 presidential election. During the campaign, his supporters showed pictures that read “Traveling with Biden” that included Stylized picture of him driving an convertible, dark glasses and smiling broadly.

As Vice President, he once expressed his regret to Car and Driver magazine that the Secret Service would not allow him to drive his magnificent 1967 Corvette: “the only thing I hate about the job.” The same is true now that he’s president. Although in some great moments on Tuesday, it was all forgotten.
