A magnitude 7.3 earthquake shakes Japan

Tokyo – Japan A tsunami alert was issued today following a magnitude 7.3 earthquake off the coast of Fukushima and Miyagi in the northeast.

Authorities have issued a tsunami alert in the most affected areas, up to a meter (3 feet) high. The National Television NHK reported that the tsunami may have already reached some areas.

The quake struck at 10:36 a.m. Thursday (Puerto Rico time) at a depth of 60 kilometers (36 miles), according to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA).

Another low magnitude earthquake (6.4)And reached a high of six on the Japanese scale, with a maximum of seven and more than the intensity of the tremor, focusing on measuring the surface and the affected areas.

The area is part of northern Japan, which was devastated by a magnitude 9 earthquake and tsunami 11 years ago, which triggered the melting of nuclear power plants in Fukushima. Today’s earthquake comes just days after the 11th anniversary of the March 2011 disaster.

The quake shook parts of eastern Japan, including Tokyo. The buildings there shook violently.

The quake affected Soma, Fukushima prefecture, and parts of Tokyo.

Chief Minister, Fumio KishidaAn emergency meeting has been called to monitor the situation and analyze possible damages.

Several high-speed rail lines in the northeast of the country have been cut off, while various sections of highways and Tokyo’s Haneda Airport have been closed as a precaution.
