Where to watch Formula 1 sprint races on TV in the US

This Saturday, June 29, the Austrian Grand Prix Sprint will take place at the iconic Red Bull Ring located in Spielberg. (Austria).

After qualifying on Friday, drivers will now prepare to score more points in this new test which will serve as a preview for the big race on Sunday.

What will the F1 sprint scoring system look like?

Since its introduction in 2021, sprint racing has added excitement and strategy to the weekend. Grand Prix in Formula 1.

In 2024, the scoring system for these races has been approved and remains unchanged from the previous season.

The scoring system for Formula 1 sprint races in 2024 distributes points as follows:

Winner (1st Place): 8 points

2nd place: 7 points

3rd Place: 6 points

4th Place: 5 points

5th Place: 4 points

6th Place: 3 points

7th Place: 2 points

This means that the first eight drivers to cross the finish line during a sprint race will receive points for the Drivers' World Championship and the World Constructors' Championship. Formula 1.

Initially introduced in 2021, the scoring format has since evolved. In the inaugural season of sprint racing, only the top three finishers scored points.

However, this distribution was expanded to the top eight in 2022 and has remained this way to date, including the 2024 season.
