Rickin Sanchez, an iconic figure from the golden age of lucha libre in the island, has passed away

Rickin Sanchez, a veteran sports producer and commentator best known for his role as an interviewer for wrestlers on the Superstars of Wrestling program in the 1980s, died yesterday, his family said.

During the aforementioned period, Sanchez played a key role in the Lucha Libre program, bringing seriousness and realism to a product that daily faced the question of whether the brutality and matches were real or game show. Confirmed for decades. Later on.

In each edition of Superstars of Lucha Libre, produced by Capital Sports Promotions, Sanchez was the host of the show, which had to interview the protagonists of the fights on Saturdays and Sundays in different stadiums or courts on the island. Among the memorable people they interviewed were the company’s locals and stars, Carlitos Colón and the Invaders and their enemies, Abdullah the Butcher and his then-manager Hugo Savinowicz, Barabbas and the Martel brothers.

Sanchez was also a producer, story and sports commentator in boxing and baseball, among other fields, and a producer of boxing billboards. He also established the Videomax channel.
