The nationalist formation considers that the implementation of wind farms is “incompatible” with the fishing activity, a “key” sector

SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA, 1 (EUROPA PRESS)

The BNG has sent to the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge a document in which it proposes to declare the Galician coastline as “not suitable” space for the installation of offshore wind farms.

This writing is produced as a reaction to the public consultation, by the Ministry of Ecological Transition, on the environmental evaluation of the so-called Maritime Space Management Plans (POEM), with which it is intended to regulate the installation of these parks on the coast from Galicia.

As the nationalist formation has explained in a statement, the implementation of these parks is “incompatible” with fishing activity, a sector that is “key” from an economic and environmental point of view.

In this sense, the parliamentary spokeswoman for Fisheries of the BNG, Rosana Pérez, stressed that fishing produces benefits for the entire Galician Community and “not only for four large companies”, in addition to generating employment “both direct and indirect”.

DEMANDS TO THE XUNTA

In this regard, the BNG requires the Galician Government to “exercise its powers” and “lead” the defense of the fishing and marine sector so that the “large electricity companies” do not “end everything.”

In addition, in the document of observations sent to the Ministry of Ecological Transition, the nationalist formation also refers to the “dangerousness” of the greater concentration of commercial maritime traffic that would occur with the installation of the parks, with an impact on shellfish “both on foot as afloat “.

Likewise, the BNG has highlighted the Galician powers on its entire coast, in which any marine installation requires authorization from the Xunta de Galicia.
