4 soldiers killed in Colombian military helicopter crash

(CNN Spanish) — Colombian President Gustavo Pedro tweeted on Sunday that four soldiers died when a military helicopter crashed in Quito, Choco.

In a message, Pedro pointed it out The plane “rushed” ashore while “executing supply duties”. He did not give further details.

The Colombian National Army confirmed on the company’s verified Twitter account the names of those killed in the crash: Captain Hector Jerez Ochoa, Lieutenant Juliet García Cordero and Second Sergeants Johan Orozco Neira and Ruben Leguizamón Perilla.

In 2020, 31-year-old Lt. García Cordero became the first female military pilot to fly a UH1N helicopter.

“I have ordered officials to go to the area immediately to deal with the emergency and investigate the reasons for what happened,” the president explained.

In another message on the same platform, Pedro said, “I regret to announce it with sadness There were no survivors “Air Crash in Quito”.
