Local McDonald’s restaurants are launching the Outstanding Educator Awards in Northeast Oklahoma, offering community members an opportunity to recognize K–12 teachers who have made a meaningful impact on students, schools and their communities.
The initiative, led locally by McDonald’s Owner/Operator Thomas Nichols, will provide selected educators with $250 awards. Teachers across 11 Northeast Oklahoma communities are eligible for recognition, with nominations open through September 27.
The program is being introduced in Northeast Oklahoma for the first time, expanding an educator recognition initiative that has awarded more than $52,700 to teachers in participating communities since it was established in 2020.
Nominations Open Across 11 Northeast Oklahoma Communities
Parents, students, fellow educators and other community members can nominate K–12 teachers from Bartlesville, Catoosa, Claremore, Cleveland, Collinsville, Mannford, Owasso, Pawhuska, Pryor, Skiatook and Vinita.
The Outstanding Educator Awards are intended to recognize teachers who go beyond their regular classroom responsibilities, inspire students to develop a love of learning and contribute positively to their schools and surrounding communities.
Each selected educator will receive a $250 award in recognition of their dedication and contributions to education.
Community members submitting nominations are encouraged to explain how a particular teacher has made a difference for students, a school or the wider community.
Educator Awards Program Expands to Northeast Oklahoma
The Outstanding Educator Awards are being offered in Northeast Oklahoma for the first time, extending a program that has already recognized hundreds of teachers in participating communities.
Since its creation, the initiative has recognized 337 educators and distributed more than $52,700 in awards.
The Northeast Oklahoma expansion gives residents a direct role in identifying educators whose work has had a positive influence on students and local schools.
“Teachers play such an important role in shaping our communities, and we’re excited to bring this program to Northeast Oklahoma for the first time,” said Nichols, local McDonald’s Owner/Operator. “There are so many incredible educators who give their time, energy and heart to their students every day. This is an opportunity for our community to help us recognize them, say thank you and celebrate the difference they make.”
Community Members Encouraged to Recognize Teachers
The nomination process is open to a broad range of community participants, including parents, students, fellow educators and other residents who have witnessed the impact of a local teacher.
Nominations can highlight educators for their classroom work as well as their broader contributions to students and school communities. The program emphasizes teachers who demonstrate dedication, encourage learning and provide support that can extend beyond academic instruction.
The awards are part of an ongoing effort by participating local McDonald’s Owner/Operators to support people and organizations that contribute to their communities.
By expanding the initiative into Northeast Oklahoma, the program provides another avenue for local educators to receive public recognition for their work while allowing residents to share examples of teachers who have made a lasting difference.
Local Teachers to Receive $250 Recognition Awards
The awards provide selected teachers with financial recognition while also highlighting their contributions to education at the community level.
With 11 communities participating in the Northeast Oklahoma launch, the initiative covers a broad area and provides families, students and residents with an opportunity to acknowledge educators whose work may otherwise receive limited public attention.

The Northeast Oklahoma launch builds on the program’s previous recognition of 337 educators. Through the new local initiative, community members now have an opportunity to highlight K–12 teachers whose commitment, leadership and dedication have made a meaningful difference for students and schools across the region.
