Republican Attorney General candidate Brian Echols has secured his party’s nomination for Oklahoma Attorney General after a commanding primary election victory, setting the stage for a closely watched campaign heading into the November general election.

The result marks a significant milestone in Echols’ campaign, which began in February 2025 and has since attracted support from a broad coalition of law enforcement organisations, public safety groups and conservative advocacy bodies across the state.

In a statement following the primary result, Echols reflected on the launch of his campaign and thanked supporters who helped deliver the victory.

“On February 26th, 2025, my family and I went on stage at Christian Heritage Academy where I announced my candidacy for Oklahoma Attorney General. Last night, we secured the Republican nomination and are heading to November.”

The Republican nominee credited family members, campaign staff and supporters for their role in what he described as a successful 15-month campaign effort. His remarks highlighted the extensive grassroots and organisational support that contributed to the outcome.

“From the bottom of my heart, I want to say thank you! Thank you to my wife, my family, my amazing supporters, my campaign team, and my Savior for an incredible run these last 15 months. None of what this campaign has accomplished would’ve been possible without the efforts of so many, and I am truly humbled and honored by the results last night.”

The primary campaign was backed by numerous organisations representing law enforcement officers, firefighters and Second Amendment advocates. According to Echols, those endorsements played a key role in building momentum throughout the race.

Among the groups supporting his candidacy were 60 Republican sheriffs, the Oklahoma Fraternal Order of Police, the Professional Firefighters of Oklahoma, the Oklahoma Retired Firefighters, the National Rifle Association and Oklahoma Second Amendment advocates.

Echols described the coalition as historic and said it helped produce a decisive result at the ballot box.

“Together, we built a historic coalition including 60 Republican Sheriffs, the Oklahoma Fraternal Order of Police, the Professional Firefighters of Oklahoma, the Oklahoma Retired Firefighters, the NRA, and OK2A to name a few. That coalition, combined with a lot of hard work and prayer, helped deliver our decisive 10-point victory last night!”

Political observers often view strong primary victories as an important indicator of organisational strength and voter enthusiasm ahead of a general election. The outcome provides Echols with momentum as he prepares to broaden his appeal beyond Republican primary voters and engage with the wider electorate.

The office of Attorney General serves as the state’s chief legal authority and plays a central role in law enforcement, consumer protection, public safety and legal representation for state government. As the campaign moves into its next phase, issues surrounding public safety, crime prevention and government accountability are expected to remain central themes.

Echols indicated that his campaign would now focus on reaching voters across Oklahoma, arguing that his priorities extend beyond partisan politics and are aimed at serving residents throughout the state.

“The Primary is now over, and my sights are set on November. Making Oklahoma safer, freer, and stronger isn’t just a message for Republicans, it is a promise I am making to every single Oklahoman. With your continued support, we are going to go win this race in November.”

With the Republican nomination now secured, attention turns to the November election, where Echols will seek to translate his primary success into a statewide victory. The coming months are expected to feature intensified campaigning as candidates outline their visions for Oklahoma’s legal and public safety priorities and compete for voter support ahead of Election Day.
