Election in Peru: Why not a winner yet? 2:07

(CNN Espasol) – This Thursday, the Democratic Initiative (IDEA) of Spain and the United States issued a statement asking election officials to wait to decide who 22 former presidents will be elected president of Peru.

The letter, signed by 22 former heads of state in the region, urges Keiko Fujimori and Point Pedro Castillo to contribute to the leadership and maintain the peace of the citizens, and both parties hope that the bodies will dictate the final decision on who will win the presidential election.

“We urge both parties to work with their leadership to ensure that citizens maintain peace, and that constitutionally competent organizations wait until their final resolution is released,” the statement said.

Signatories include former Mexican presidents Felipe Calderon and Vicente Fox; Former Colombian presidents Andrs Pastrana and Alvaro Uribe; And former Argentine President Mauricio Macri.
