Queen Elizabeth II has held her first official engagement at Windsor Castle outside London, since the death of her husband Duke of Edinburgh on Friday, according to royal records.

The 94-year-old Sovereign presided over a ceremony with Count William Peel in Windsor, where he retired as Lord Chamberlain, the highest official in the State House, and his office organizes government visits, royal weddings and the Queen and the Lord’s House, the main channel for communication between

At the ceremony, Elizabeth Peel II received from staff and identities associated with Lord Chamberlain that it would now be sent to the new person in charge of the operation, Andrew Parker, former director of the British Secret Services (Internal) MI5.

Earl Peel announced his retirement last year, while Parker began serving as Lord Chamberlain a week before Prince Philip died.

The Duke of Edinburgh, who had been hospitalized for several weeks last March, died in Windsor at the age of 99.

The ceremony, presided over by the Queen, was held on Tuesday and is recorded in the court’s circular call today, which marks the events presided over by the head of state.

The royal family has been mourning for two weeks and is preparing for the funeral of the Duke of Edinburgh this Saturday – day 17 – at St. George Windsor Castle Church.
