The Republican Attorneys General Association (RAGA) is set to host a press conference in Washington, DC during National Police Week, underscoring what the organisation describes as a strong working relationship between Republican state attorneys general and law enforcement agencies across the United States.

The event will take place at the National Press Club on Wednesday, May 13th at 2:00 p.m. EST, with media representatives permitted to arrive from 1:30 p.m.

According to details released by RAGA, the press conference is intended to “highlight the successful partnership between Republican AGs and law enforcement” during a week that traditionally recognises the work and service of police officers nationwide.

The gathering is expected to bring together a number of senior Republican legal officials from across several states, reflecting the continued emphasis among conservative state leaders on public safety, criminal justice policy and cooperation with policing authorities.

Among those expected to attend are Brenna Bird, Mike Hilgers, Raúl Labrador and J. B. McCuskey. Former Missouri Attorney General Catherine Hanaway is also listed among attendees.

RAGA noted that the attendance list remains tentative and could be subject to change ahead of the event.

National Police Week has long served as a platform for political leaders, law enforcement officials and advocacy organisations to discuss public safety priorities, policing strategies and support for officers serving in local, state and federal agencies. The annual observance often includes memorial events, policy discussions and media appearances involving elected officials from across the political spectrum.

For Republican attorneys general, law enforcement policy has increasingly become a central area of focus in recent years, particularly around issues including border security, violent crime, drug trafficking and cooperation between state and federal agencies. Several Republican-led states have also pursued legal challenges and policy initiatives tied to policing standards and criminal justice enforcement.

The Washington event is likely to reinforce those broader policy positions while offering participating attorneys general an opportunity to outline their respective approaches to public safety within their states.

The choice of the National Press Club as the venue reflects the event’s media-focused nature and its intention to reach a national audience during one of the most prominent weeks in the US law enforcement calendar.

Members of the media planning to attend in person have been instructed to RSVP in advance. According to the announcement, journalists “must RSVP to [email protected] by Wednesday, May 13th at 10:00 a.m. EST in order to be able to access the National Press Club.”

RAGA has also confirmed that the event will be available online for viewers unable to attend physically in Washington. “For those who are unable to attend in person, the event will be live-streamed on the Republican Attorneys General Association’s YouTube channel,” the organisation stated.

The live-stream option is expected to broaden access to the event beyond traditional Washington political and media circles, allowing supporters, legal professionals and members of the public across the United States to follow proceedings remotely.

While the press conference is centred on law enforcement and public policy, it also highlights the increasingly visible national role played by state attorneys general in shaping political debate. Attorneys general have become influential figures in multi-state legal actions, constitutional disputes and policy enforcement efforts that frequently extend beyond their own jurisdictions.

The event comes at a time when policing, crime prevention and state-level legal authority remain key issues in American political discourse ahead of future election cycles. Republican officials have consistently argued for stronger support for law enforcement agencies, while critics in some quarters continue to debate policing reforms and accountability measures.

By convening the event during National Police Week, RAGA appears to be positioning its members firmly within the broader national conversation surrounding public safety and support for law enforcement institutions.
