OEI Secretary General, Mariano Gabonero, and OEI Director in Argentina, Luis Scasso, held a meeting with the country’s Minister of Science and Technology, Daniel Vilmos, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Science. The purpose of this meeting was to review the cooperation agenda between the two institutions, which covers the national and regional levels.
In relation to this last aspect, the issue of scientific and technological cooperation between Ibero-American countries was addressed. In this way, the agenda previously approved at the Meeting of Ministers and High Authorities in the Field of Science, Technology and Innovation of CELAC, as well as at the High-Level Ibero-American Forum on Science, was followed up. Cooperation was also mentioned within the framework of the Mercosur Science Diplomacy Symposium.
During the meeting, the possibility of promoting various projects was analyzed, especially those related to the professional training of highly qualified resources at the highest levels of advanced research. This approach targets the Argentine Republic and the region as a whole, with the aim of supporting the need to strengthen the training and graduation of doctors in strategic areas of knowledge.
