Samsung has started rolling out its latest security update, and it’s important for those with phones that use Exynos modems like the flagship. In mid-March, a Project Zero report by Google’s internal security research group revealed that security issues found in devices using Exynos modems may have given remote users the ability to easily compromise the phone at band level. Samsung said at the time that it released security patches for five of those vulnerabilities in March, and updated in April to address the remaining issues.

According to a report published in Samsung website, the April 2023 security patch update contains Google-provided fixes for 55 security vulnerabilities (CVEs), of which four fixes are called critical and 46 fixes are called high priority. That’s why it’s important to install this update on your Galaxy phones, even if the Galaxy S23 series isn’t using an Exynos modem. It also fixes security vulnerabilities found in the Exynos Modem Baseband and Exynos Fastboot USB interface implementation of 3GB.

Samsung is rolling out an additional 15 fixes along with the update for Galaxy smartphones and tablets. Most of these flaws are found on devices running Android 11 and later. In addition to high-risk vulnerabilities, flaws in the SemClipboard, SLocatoin, and Telephony features have been fixed, along with holes found in the TIGERF Foundation, a hijacking vulnerability in CertificatePolicy, and incorrect authentication of smart recommendations.
