The island’s telecommunications company (ETECSA) announced in an information note some changes to the current situation due to power outages and the passage of Hurricane Ian to the attention of Cuban customers.

In this liberation “Considering the impacts caused by the passage of Cyclone Ian and the power contingency situation in the country, we are informing customers,” they point out.

-Date of phone bill payment and monthly payment for Nauda Hogar are extended so both services will not be disconnected.

-Unused time associated with Nutha Hogar account will be recharged in your account from October 1st onwards.

– Changes will be made to the fixed telephone bill corresponding to the time the service is affected.

Other ETECSA information this week

They had earlier mentioned that work to restore telecommunication services in some areas affected by the storm was ongoing.

“Cables and more than 1,200 power poles damaged by wind and falling trees are undergoing cleanup and restoration,” the note said.

They explained that more than 100,000 fixed services were disrupted by the weather events, which is 15% of the total telephone lines in the five provinces that were under the influence of the typhoon.

On the other hand, they pointed out that “the national energy situation directly affects the operation of radio stations and boxes, so when the electricity resumes, part of the mobile service and fixed telephone will be restored.”

“At the end of this information, the impact of this concept is 40% of the total number of radio base sites and 7% of the telephone services in the country. Our local and support forces are working to minimize downtime.”
