– Selection is random.
– Visas are distributed by the Department of State in six geographic areas.
Requirements to participate
Visa Lottery participants must meet the following criteria.
– Be a citizen of one of the countries with the lowest immigration rates to the United States. Excluded nationalities are mentioned in previous lines.
– Being the son, daughter or spouse of a person holding a passport from one of the participating countries can access the scheme.
– Education and work experience requirements must be met. These are: A high school diploma and two years of work experience in an occupation requiring two years of training.
Warnings
– By making more than one registration request, the person is excluded from the lottery.
– Send the request in advance. Demand will cause web saturation.
– Paper applications will not be accepted.
– Submit the completed form. If not it will not be taken into account.
– Save a copy of the page and confirmation number.
– The United States Department of State does not report by email. Results can be found at https://dvprogram.state.gov.
– Government does not ask for advance payment. This is a scam.
– Dealing with a visa consultant or visa agent does not increase your chances of obtaining residency.
