Michael Jordan: “I am a firm believer in science”

This preseason has been one of the most controversial in the NBA. The problems between the players and the franchises, and the denial of the Covid-19 vaccine have been more protagonists than basketball itself. Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan has sided with the league.

The Charlotte Hornets owner spoke about the league’s Covid-19 protocols during an interview with Craig Melvin on the show “Today“from NBC. Speaking of NBA contenders this year, Jordan stressed the importance of staying healthy. “I totally agree with the league. And I think everyone, you know, has been talking about vaccines. And, you know, I’m a firm believer in science and I’m going to stick with that and hope that everyone sticks to what the league sets the rules. I think once everyone believes in it, we’ll be fine”Commented Jordan.

The support of “23” to the NBA occurs in a context in which several players, including Kyrie irving, star of the Brooklyn Nets, they have opposed a series of rules that prohibit some unvaccinated players from playing at home if local protocols require it. Nets coach Steve Nash has already said the team doesn’t expect to have Irving at Barclays Center anytime soon. Although not all players have refused to be vaccinated, there are cases like that of LeBron James, already vaccinated, who has refused to publicly advocate the vaccine for others.

Jordan, in February, donated $ 10 million to open two family clinics Michael Jordan in his native North Carolina county. At that time, the two existing Jordan clinics had administered nearly 1,000 Covid-19 vaccines. From donations like this, as well as from your pledge to donate 100 million dollars for racial equality, Jordan spoke in “Today”. “Acts are faster than words. I can say many things, but my actions have been that I want to make a difference”Stated Michael.
