On May 9, 1998 in Santo Domingo a new vibration of typical Dominican music was born. In the heart of the vibrant Dominican capital, a woman was born to become the embodiment of Perico Rippio. She is the daughter of Zenon Valerio Rezio, known in musical circles as Lupe Valerio, an accordionist originally from Restauracian, and Ana M. Calcano, whose roots sank into the rich soil of Nagua. Thirty days after her birth, she was transferred to Santiago, which would become her home and the cradle of her artistic dreams.
In a family where music flows like water from a perennial fountain, she is surrounded by melodies and rhythms that mark the rhythm of her childhood. At the age of twelve, a spark of passion ignited in him, and with the accordion as an instrument and his voice as an outlet, he decided to follow in his father’s footsteps. Lupe Valerio not only inherited his talent, but also became his mentor, guiding every note and chord in the development of his amazing talent.
In 2015, his interest led him to perfect his vocal art at the Ñico Lora Typical Music School in the Santiago Cultural Center, where he not only improved his technique, but also joined a typical group ‘Los Hijos de Lupe’. The musical soul of the region.
An unexpected turn came in 2016 when he moved to America. This change of scenery temporarily separated her from her music career, but her passion never died. In 2021, the call of art was stronger than any obstacle and he resumed his musical exercises with renewed enthusiasm.
Fate brought her back to her homeland in March 2023, at which point she decided to embrace her musical career with the determination of a veteran and the freshness of a newbie. With vision and talent, he founded his own regular group, which he christened ‘Rupali Valerio – El Rubi del Accordion’ under the expert guidance of his father and teacher, Lupe Valerio.
