Two engineers promote science among the people – El Sol de Córdoba

Córdoba, Ver.- With the aim of awakening curiosity about science and technology in children and adolescents, two young engineers, Pedro Damián Villagrán García and Luis Gustavo Romero Rojas, take their time to give advice, courses and workshops to This population and even for adults, have their little space in Amatlán de los Reyes.

Pedro Villagrán, 30 years old, is an Industrial Maintenance engineer and began to sell electronic parts that are used for repairs or for school practices for technical careers in secondary or high school, however he wanted to go further and sought support in Gustavo Romero, A 22-year-old young man who is a Mechatronics engineer, made YouTube videos explaining the functionality of the technology.

Pedro has been with this project for 4 years and has provided counseling and workshops to children from 8 years old to young people of 20 years old who are in high school; Gustavo, for his part, has been added to “Autocontrol Electronics MX” for 4 months.

The first workshop they offered was about a programmable card that 5 years ago was in fashion due to the ease in programming issues through led sensors and later they gave explanations of the Programmable Logic Controller (PLC).

They arrive and want to learn, we detach ourselves from theory and go to practice, we explain what a symbol is and how to do it, right now with that of 3D printing we are going to give the CAD design workshop

For this 3D printing and design course, Gustavo Romero, commented that they will be taking place in three levels as they will start “from scratch” teaching those who do not have the knowledge of programming, this through programs such as Sonicword, autocad and tinkercad, this last used for basic courses such as realization of geometric figures in 3D.

For these young people, the importance of the new generations knowing what electronics, science and programming can do is of the utmost importance, therefore, these workshops are completely free.

Parents sometimes give us money to teach their children, we appreciate it and we invest it in them because we buy material so that they learn

What started as an electronics and consulting store for its clients turned into a space where young people from junior high and high school come to do internships and ask for help from Pedro and Gustavo, who now have an intern that they give the opportunity to do. his school exercises on the spot, provide him with food and financial support for his tickets.

“The most common thing is that they ask us for advice with a program, they already have the parts, programs a sensor or card so that it can fill with water, with those of a school we have been working a lot because they were commissioned many practices, the practical through what virtual is difficult, “said Gustavo.

They are grateful for the trust that young people and the children’s parents place in them and hope that these workshops will continue, make themselves known and can have help in matters of materials, because they say they do not plan to charge for the knowledge at the moment that they know.
