The six matches of this Sunday’s 2023 Guatemala Soccer Finals will begin simultaneously at 11:00 a.m., with those fights marked. End of qualification phase They also helped promote the series that revealed a new national champion Deportivo Istaba were relegated to the First Division.
Teams playing in the quarter-finals, by classification: Communications, Municipal, Xelajú MC, Xinabajul Huehue, Guastatoya, Mixco, Antigua GFC and Achuapa.
While the quarter-final series was as follows (originally it was played at the ground with the lowest place in the table):
- Achupa vs Communications
- Antigua vs Municipal
- Mixco vs Xelaju
- Guastatoya vs. Jinabajul
The first legs will be played on Wednesday 10th and Thursday 11th May, with the return matches on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th of the same month. The teams whose respective teams break their tie will advance to the semi-finals and be one step away from the final.
The champion is out
After winning the 2022 Apertura against Antigua GFC, reigning Guatemalan football champions Copán Imperial lost their chances to review their title.
The main Blues team had a poor Clausura match, Deportivo Achuba, who beat Istaba 5-3, moved eighth from them in the table and cannot give their fans another joy.
In 22 games played, Coban Imperial has not added 25 points, resulting in six wins, seven draws and nine losses.
