The Oklahoma Insurance Department (OID) will continue its Medicare Mondays webinar series in 2026, providing free, live and on-demand education aimed at helping residents better understand Medicare coverage and enrolment choices.
The programme is delivered through the department’s Medicare Assistance Program (MAP) and is designed for both current Medicare beneficiaries and those approaching eligibility. Webinars will take place at 10 a.m. on the first Monday of each month, covering a rotating schedule of topics that OID says are intended to support informed decision-making.
The continuation of the series reflects growing demand for accessible Medicare guidance, particularly as older adults and people living with disabilities face an increasingly complex health insurance landscape. Since launching in 2023, Medicare Mondays has helped hundreds of Oklahomans navigate their options, according to the department.
The sessions are hosted by Ray Walker, MAP’s divisional director, who brings more than two decades of healthcare industry experience to the role. OID says the series aims to provide unbiased information, helping participants understand Medicare’s structure and how to evaluate coverage pathways, including supplementary and alternative plans.
“Medicare is a great program that provides a wealth of healthcare services to older Americans, as well as people on disability,” Walker said. “We want to make sure people have the information they need to be able to access that program and make the most of the healthcare coverage they’ve earned.”
The webinars are expected to appeal to a broad cross-section of residents, including retirees, individuals nearing age 65, caregivers, and people managing long-term health needs. In addition to supporting household planning, the series may also help reduce administrative and financial strain for those trying to interpret coverage rules, prescription drug benefits, and enrolment timelines.
OID’s MAP provides support at no cost, positioning the service as a public resource for residents seeking clarity without the pressure of sales-driven advice. Medicare choices can carry significant financial implications, particularly for those comparing Medicare Advantage plans with Original Medicare and supplemental policies, or those seeking support through cost-saving programmes for low-income seniors.
Registration for the 2026 webinars is available online at map.oid.ok.gov, where users can access the sign-up link through the site’s revolving banner. OID said recordings of each session will also be available for those unable to attend live, with on-demand viewing offered under the website’s Educational Videos tab and via YouTube.
The 2026 schedule begins in February and runs through December, with each month focusing on a specific area of Medicare coverage and planning.
Key sessions include “Welcome to Medicare” on Feb. 2, followed by “What if I Disagree? How To File an Appeal” on March 2, which will address dispute processes for beneficiaries who wish to challenge decisions relating to coverage or claims.
April’s webinar, “Keeping on Top of Your Health” on April 6, is set to focus on maintaining health outcomes while managing coverage, while May’s “Medicare Supplement Plans in Oklahoma” on May 4 will explore the role of supplemental plans in reducing out-of-pocket exposure.
OID has also scheduled “Fraud Prevention and Reporting” for June 1, reflecting the continued need for awareness around scams and misuse of personal health information. The July session, “Medicare Cost Savings Programs for Low-Income Seniors” on July 6, will highlight financial support options for eligible participants.
In August, “How Medicare Covers Prescription Medication” on Aug. 3 will focus on drug coverage, ahead of September’s “Getting Ready for Open Enrollment” on Sept.14, which is expected to help beneficiaries prepare for the annual period when plan changes are commonly made.
October’s webinar, “Medicare Advantage Plans” on Oct. 5, will examine private plan alternatives, while November’s “Preparing for Future Healthcare Needs” on Nov. 2 will consider longer-term coverage planning.
The series concludes with “Medicare Changes for 2027” on Dec. 7, offering participants an early look at updates that may affect decisions in the following year.
OID said MAP continues to offer free and confidential Medicare assistance to Oklahomans seeking one-to-one support beyond the webinars. Residents can contact the service by calling 800-763-2828 or visiting map.oid.ok.gov for more information.
