Oklahoma Farm Bureau Insurance has launched the second year of its Coats for Kids initiative, expanding a statewide effort aimed at supporting families ahead of the winter season through community coat donations and sponsorship programmes.
The initiative, which operates across all 77 counties in Oklahoma, will once again see local insurance agents working alongside businesses, schools, churches and community organisations to collect and distribute winter coats for children of all ages.
The programme follows what the insurer described as a strong response during its inaugural campaign, which resulted in thousands of coats being distributed to families throughout the state.
“As a result of the incredible community response we saw in our first year, we were able to donate over 7,000 coats. We’re excited to expand our impact this winter,” said Greg Golden, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Oklahoma Farm Bureau Insurance. “Every coat donated is a reminder of what Oklahomans can accomplish when we look out for one another. We’re proud to once again stand alongside our neighbors to ensure every child stays warm.”
The campaign forms part of Oklahoma Farm Bureau Insurance’s wider community engagement efforts and is designed to encourage participation from both members and non-members of the organisation. Local businesses and community partners are also being encouraged to support the initiative through sponsorships, fundraising and local collection drives.
Under the programme, residents can donate new winter coats at any Oklahoma Farm Bureau Insurance office until 31 August. The organisation said coats for children across all age groups are being accepted as demand for winter clothing continues to affect many households.
In addition to physical coat donations, the insurer is also inviting financial contributions that will be used to purchase additional winter clothing for children in need. Donations made to the initiative are tax-deductible, according to the organisation.
Businesses, schools and churches are also being encouraged to organise independent coat drives in support of the campaign. Oklahoma Farm Bureau Insurance said it hopes community-led events will help expand the reach of the initiative beyond its branch network and strengthen local participation throughout the state.
The programme reflects a broader trend among insurers and financial service organisations increasingly investing in community-based initiatives as part of their corporate social responsibility strategies. For regional insurers in particular, local engagement campaigns are often viewed as an opportunity to strengthen relationships with communities while addressing practical social needs.
Oklahoma Farm Bureau Insurance has positioned the campaign as a collaborative effort involving residents, businesses and local organisations working together ahead of the colder months.
The company is also using social media platforms to raise awareness of the initiative and encourage participation. Residents attending local events or making donations are being asked to share their experiences online using the #CoatsForKidsOKFB hashtag.
The insurer said local events linked to the initiative will take place throughout the donation period, with updates expected to be shared through the company’s official social media channels.
Oklahoma Farm Bureau Insurance operates throughout the state and maintains a network of local offices and agents serving rural and urban communities. The Coats for Kids initiative is expected to remain a key part of the organisation’s community outreach activity during the 2026 winter season.
As economic pressures continue to affect many households across the United States, charitable programmes focused on essential winter supplies have become increasingly important for families facing rising living costs. Community donation schemes such as Coats for Kids are often supported by local businesses and civic organisations seeking to provide practical assistance during colder months.
By extending the campaign into a second year, Oklahoma Farm Bureau Insurance is aiming to build on the momentum generated during the programme’s launch and increase participation across communities statewide.
Residents interested in supporting the initiative can donate new coats at local Oklahoma Farm Bureau Insurance offices, contribute financially to support coat purchases, or organise local fundraising and donation events within their communities.
