The journalist was attacked in Barinas by police officers who wanted to arrest him in a shopping centre

Yucer González, a journalist from Bariñas who created the Noticias digital account on Instagram, was attacked by officers of the Organized Crime Unit (TCDO) of the Bolivarian National Police late in the afternoon of Friday, April 12. (PNB), tried to arrest him when he was at Sima Shopping Centre.

Citizens in DCDO uniforms approached Gonzalez, accompanied by an unidentified woman.

Surprised by the arrest, the journalist assured that he had not been notified of any violation and that there were no loose ends that would deprive him of freedom in his personal life or professional activity, he explained via video.

The accused officers did not have a patrol car, and the vehicle in which they intended to pick up the journalist had tinted windows, the license plate was hidden, and they did not show him an arrest warrant.

In the struggle, his knee was injured, his shirt was torn and he was beaten on various parts of his body.

“This is not a patrol,” the journalist shouted, as those around him began recording the incident, putting pressure on him to be released.

He investigated what happened to find out the reasons, but no PNB official gave him any explanation.
