Inauguration of a permanent space “Heritage Chair” in UNEARTE Aragua

With the purpose of extending, disseminating and encouraging the practice of heritage work, related to the theme of traditional Venezuelan dance, the National Experimental University of Arts (Unearte), Maracay headquarters, inaugurated the “Heritage Chair” that will be developed every Tuesday from 3:00 in the afternoon in the spaces of the Liceo Aragua, main headquarters of this house of university studies in the Aragüeña region.

This was reported by Mayuly Jaimes, teacher of Venezuelan Traditional Dance at Unearte, who highlighted that the patrimonial chair was formally inaugurated, last Tuesday, with the development of a discussion related to the musical genre of the Aragüeño joropo and that included the participation of the cultists Juan Sánchez “Tacón de Oro” and the singer Carlos Vera “El Caminante”.

In this sense, Jaimes explained that “the intention of the chair is to share with the Maracay communities the academic activities that are carried out in the Unearte Aragua and that are related to dance as cultural heritage, and for this we have opened a space for students and the general public, completely free, every Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the facilities of this high school”, review a press release from the Regional Cabinet of the Ministry of Popular Power for Culture .

Another aspect highlighted by the teacher is that “the Heritage Chair will be based on the Venezuelan cultural festival calendar as well as the elements that accompany each celebration, which is why we are preparing talks, discussions and workshops related to the different religious festivities. -cultural that are rooted in the bosom of the town such as the Cruz de Mayo, Corpus Cristhi and San Juan Bautista, among others, with the exception of the joropo that, as it does not have a fixed date in that calendar, will be worked throughout the year.
