In March 2023, Google announced major updates to its Google One program, and one of the most anticipated features was “Dark Web Report«, allowing us to visualize and search if our data has the potential to float on the deep web.
This system allows you to scan the dark web for information such as your name, address, email, phone number and social security number. If a match is found, you will be notified.
If dark web reporting is enabled, you can provide the information you want to track in your tracking profile, and Google will take care of the rest. In addition to results matching your personal information in the monitoring profile, you may also receive additional relevant information found in data breaches.
All of this information is handled through Google’s own privacy policy, and you can remove any information from your tracking profile or stop tracking altogether.
How can I check if my data is on the dark web with Google One?
- Access one.google.com Or for the app if the mobile device was previously signed in to your Google Account. Notice that appears in the central options.Dark Web Report‘. Tap Test Now to start the analysis.
- It will direct you to a section to check your Gmail and its emails for leaks.
- After a few seconds, it will provide a summary of the results. If your email or username appears on the dark web, you can look even deeper When did the breach occur, what data was leaked, and where?as well as ongoing safety and security recommendations.
