Gaucho Gil started work: it will be a regional tourist spot

After some failed attempts last week, work began on Gaucho Gil’s Mercedes property. Yesterday, the Ministry of Works and Public Services arrived at the work area and inspected the area. It should be noted that they asserted that they hoped to advance as far as possible for January 8, the pagan saint’s day.

“There was no problem. All the best on the property. Gisela Gasparini, project coordinator at the Ministry of Public Works and Services, confirmed to El Litoral yesterday, “We were able to enter the construction site to identify the area and conduct a monitoring to start the initial works.”

After the intervention of the Civic Assembly last year by the Corrientes government, they seek to turn the area into a protected tourist property that guarantees the safety of the thousands of devotees who visit the Gaucho Gil Reserve every year.

“The first jobs include cleaning the property, the area where the work will start, and then the work itself,” Gasparini said.

The start of the works comes after last week their attempt to advance the work and some families living on the land refused to allow passage because they considered it infringing on private property. On Friday, the Minister of Justice and Human Rights, Juan Jose Lopez Desimone, appeared to have solved the problem himself.

“We were able to resolve a dispute that put a family on hold in the building next to the Cruz Gil property. Together with the work of attorneys from the Attorney General’s Office, District Minister of Justice Juan José López Desimone and the cooperation of Ringo Cabral, we signed an agreement to define the works so that the first phase can begin. Of the works in the stipulates a period of 6 months” stated Oviedo Chavez, family attorney.

“It gives us great pleasure to announce that the conditions have allowed for dialogue to resolve this conflict. He commented that an outstanding work of the Gauchetto property would be carried out, without violating the fundamental rights of the people.

The works on the property will be carried out in phases. Phase one will last at least six months on land that can be seen on National Route 123 on the way to the property from Corrientes Capital.

“It will be an entry gate where we will trace the lanes and locate the sites and workers,” Gasparini previously told this medium. The official also explained that they would build toilets and a tourist information space belonging to the Corrientes Tourism Ministry.

“The idea is to come forward and come up with something for Saint’s Day because it’s a bit complicated given the number of people. That’s why we also decided to do it in phases because if we covered all the business, we would have to shut down the entire property and inconveniences could generate, especially if we didn’t get to January 8th. ‘ said the official.

As indicated, they will seek the most advanced on the eighth day, since they appreciate the arrival of crowds and cannot be under construction, as accidents can develop.

Polling booths were removed last year after the murders of “Chicho” and “Minto” Caneros in August 2021, and a decision was made to intervene by the Civic Assembly. The bill gained parliamentary status on July 8 under File No. 17014. The main objective, detailed in the document, is to declare public benefit and confiscate property located in the property known as Gauchito Gil, in the Mercedes department.
