Former wrestler Rafael Sanchez (Jack Veneno) died early Tuesday morning from health problems caused by pancreatic cancer. He is 78 years old.

That information was confirmed by his daughter Paola Sanchez on her Instagram account.

“You fought with her, you won the rope of eternity. Goodbye father,” the ex-combatant’s daughter declared.

Jack Veneno is the idol and hero of many generations of Dominicans through the game-scene of wrestling. His main rival was Relambago Hernandez (who died in 2011).

World champion Cruz was admitted to the Gymnasium Clinic a few weeks ago for delivering severe anemia and dehydration, a product of cancer, and was later transferred to the National Cancer Institute (INCARD) Hospital, where he was later discharged.

The day he talked about his fight

In January of this year, Jack Veneno announced that he was fighting his boots, for the second time, against cancer (pancreatic cancer, he had already fought prostate cancer).

“I’m wearing my boots again to fight cancer … this is the hardest fight, I had to put my shoes back on to fight,” he said on the show “El Show del Medio”, which spreads by color, Channel 9.

Donna Tatica’s son added: “I hope the Lord will make a pair with me again, I am with him so we can succeed. Because there is nothing without God, there is no one after God, I tell you. I have experienced a lot.”

Statue in his memory

In 2019, a statue in memory of Jack Veneno was unveiled in Eugenio Maria de Hostos Park, on the boardwalk in the city of Santo Domingo.

Jack Veneno started his career in the ring as a young man, with the dream of becoming a world champion.
