WASHINGTON — U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin is scheduled to attend the grand opening of a new U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services facility in Oklahoma City on Monday, September 28, highlighting the federal agency’s immigration services and fraud-prevention efforts.

The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 10:45 a.m. Central Time and is expected to conclude at approximately 11:15 a.m. Mullin will be joined by USCIS Director Joseph Edlow for the event.

According to the Department of Homeland Security announcement, the opening will highlight USCIS’ continued efforts to address fraud by tightening processes and coordinating with DHS personnel across the country.

New USCIS Facility Opens in Oklahoma City

The new facility will expand the physical presence of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services in Oklahoma City. USCIS operates within the Department of Homeland Security and administers a wide range of immigration benefits and services.

Its responsibilities include processing applications for U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence and employment authorization, along with other immigration-related petitions and requests.

The announcement did not provide details about the size of the new Oklahoma City facility, its staffing capacity or the investment associated with establishing the location. It also did not specify the range of services that will be available at the facility following its opening.

The exact address is being withheld from the general event announcement and will be provided to attendees upon RSVP.

The ceremony will bring together senior DHS and USCIS leadership as the federal government emphasizes tighter administrative procedures and fraud detection within the immigration system.

DHS Highlights Fraud Prevention Efforts

DHS said the event will draw attention to USCIS’ continued crackdown on fraud and its efforts to tighten agency processes.

Fraud detection and national security screening form part of USCIS’ responsibilities when reviewing immigration applications and petitions. Agency personnel examine documentation and other information submitted by applicants while determining eligibility for immigration benefits under federal law.

The Oklahoma City ceremony is expected to provide DHS officials with an opportunity to highlight those priorities while formally opening the new facility.

USCIS Director Joseph Edlow will attend alongside Mullin. As director, Edlow oversees the agency’s administration of immigration benefits and its workforce responsible for reviewing applications and petitions across the United States.

The presence of both officials places national attention on the Oklahoma City facility and its role within the broader USCIS network.

Oklahoma City Ceremony Scheduled for Monday Morning

The grand opening is scheduled for Monday, September 28, at 10:45 a.m. CT, corresponding to 11:45 a.m. ET. The ceremony is expected to run for approximately 30 minutes and conclude at about 11:15 a.m. CT.

The event announcement lists Mullin and Edlow as the principal federal officials scheduled to participate.

While the specific Oklahoma City location will be provided through the RSVP process, members of the public will also have an opportunity to follow the ceremony remotely. DHS plans to livestream the event.

The opening comes as USCIS continues carrying out its responsibilities within the federal immigration system while emphasizing measures designed to strengthen application review procedures and identify potential fraud.

For Oklahoma City, the ceremony will formally mark the opening of another federal immigration-services location and provide additional operational capacity for USCIS activities in the region.

Monday’s event will also give DHS and USCIS leadership a platform to outline the role of the new facility and discuss the agency’s current approach to immigration processing, fraud prevention and administrative oversight across the country.
