Mexican closer Andres Munoz of the Seattle Mariners replaced teammate Logan Gilbert on the American League roster for the MLB All-Star Game.

Munoz, a 25-year-old right-hander, entered Friday with 15 saves, six holds and a 1.45 ERA in 17 chances, striking out 45 and walking 16 in 37⅓ innings.

Munoz became the 37th first-time All-Star and the eighth alternate: four from each league. This brought the total number of All-Stars to 72.

Minnesota Twins infielder/outfielder Willie Castro and Baltimore Orioles outfielder Anthony Santander and infielder Jordan Westburg are on the American League roster along with Houston Astros shortstop Jose Altuve (sore left hand), Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers (sore left hand), and Houston outfielder Kyle Tucker (injured right jaw).

Pittsburgh Pirates right-hander Paul Skenes, Cincinnati Reds shortstop Ellie de la Cruz, and San Francisco Giants right-hander Hunter Greene and outfielder Heliot Ramos were National League replacements for Philadelphia Phillies right-hander Jack Wheeler (back strain), Los Angeles. Mookie Betts (broken left arm), right-hander Tyler Glasnow (back strain), and San Diego Padres outfielder Fernando Tadis Jr. (right hamstring).
