PHOENIX — Tommy Baum hit a two-run double in the 11th inning, Ketel Marte tied it with a home run in the ninth, and the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Texas Rangers 4-3 on Monday.
“It’s probably one of the best wins I’ve ever been a part of in my life,” exclaims Pam.
The Rangers entered the ninth with a 1-0 lead thanks to Adolise Garcia, who hit his 31st home run, and Jordan Montgomery, who allowed just four hits in eight impressive innings.
But Texas manager Bruce Bochy replaced Will Smith (1-5) with closer Aroldis Chapman, and the decision backfired: Marte gave up his first pitch.
Kevin Zingel (7-0) got the win after allowing one hit and two runs in one inning. Smith took the loss, giving up two hits and three runs in two-thirds of an inning.
For the Rangers, Cuban Adolis Garcia scored a goal in a 5-1 victory. Dominicans Ezequiel Duran 4-0, one run scored; Leodi Taveras 3-1.
For the Diamondbacks, Dominicans Ketel Marte went 4-2, with two runs scored and a run scored; Geraldo Perdomo went 1-1 with one run and an RBI. Cuba Lourdes Curiel 3-1. Gabriel Moreno of Venezuela, 4-0, scored a run.
