BALTIMORE — Chris Taylor struck out four times. Finally Brian Baker threw one more.
Chris Taylor hit a grand slam on an 0-2 pitch in the sixth inning, and the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Orioles 6-4 on Monday night, ending Los Angeles’ eight-game hitting streak. Baltimore.
Baltimore was one game behind leader Tampa Bay in the AL East.
“He threw me a bunch (of fastballs) and I caught it,” Taylor said. “You can’t send me live because there’s a slider and a changeup. You try to make contact. I think it’s just a matter of adjusting when he keeps throwing them.”
Los Angeles trailed 4-1 in the sixth before Will Smith’s RBI single. Baltimore starter Grayson Rodriguez was on first and second with nobody out, and at times Baker (3-3) seemed to escape the quagmire on two straight fly balls.
But Baker delivered a bases-loaded walk. The right-hander continued to throw fastballs at the plate, and after a pair of errors, Taylor lined up to center field for 12 homers on the year.
Emmett Sheehan (3-0) allowed four hits in five innings, but the Orioles got no closer against the Los Angeles bullpen. Ryan Brazier pitched a no-hitter in the ninth for his first save since joining the Dodgers last month.
For the Dodgers, Venezuelan David Peralta is 4-1.
For the Orioles, Venezuelan Anthony Santander scored a run to make it 3-0. Mexico’s Ramon Urias scored a run to make it 4-1.
