An armed group kidnapped 14 employees of the defense secretary on a highway in southern Mexico

An armed group kidnapped 14 administrative staff from the Secretary of Defense and Civil Protection (SSyPC) in southeastern Mexico’s Chiapas state, the agency said on Tuesday.

These events occurred on the Ocozocoautla-Tuxtla Gutiérrez highway section.

“Received of the assistance report, a permanent operation by air and ground with all armed forces was immediately established to trace the whereabouts of the comrades deprived of their liberty, take all necessary steps to trace them and take them to the responsible authorities,” the agency said in a statement.

According to reports, the workers were leaving the offices of the old Llano San Juan Airport for the municipality of Okozokotla when they were intercepted by armed men.

An official of the state corporation, who asked not to be quoted as he was not authorized to speak to reporters, told an Andhra agency that the women in the official vehicle were freed when the men were kidnapped.

In a video posted on social networks, armed men can be seen riding in different vehicles on a bus in which SSyPC workers were traveling.

In a statement, the SSyPC coordinated with the federal forces and noted that 14 people, all men, “were deprived of their liberty by armed men, this Tuesday afternoon, on the Ocozocoautla-Tuxtla Gutierrez highway section. Llano San Juan ship.

Initially, different reports indicated that 23 people were abducted, but the SSyPC noted that 14 administrative staff were abducted.
