The U.S. Embassy in Havana recently released a news release informing Cubans of the “lottery” system they have begun implementing for humanitarian parole.

The news was announced this month by National Security Undersecretary Blas Nunez-Neto in a telephone press conference. Let’s see the details.

In this context, Núñez-Neto pointed out that the United States has begun a “historic expansion” of legal channels of immigration with parole processes through economic sponsors for Cuban, Nicaraguan, Haitian and Venezuelan nationals already admitted. A country of more than 100,000 people living “in a safe and orderly manner.”

Similarly, he recalled a recent announcement of intent to expand “family reunification programs” similar to those already in place in Cuba to Central American countries such as Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras and Colombia.

However, the official admitted that “there is a high demand for these parole programs in the region,” so they decided to make some changes to the selection process to “increase people’s confidence in who will be selected.”

“Half of the appointments available each day, that is, we are going to implement a process. Out of 1000 allocations processed every day, 500 are processed more or less randomly In a lottery”, the Under Secretary of National Defense stepped forward.

As per the details provided, the remaining half of the appointments will be processed in the order in which the applications are received and also ensure that those who are waiting have confirmed their application.

With the implementation of this new system, it can be explained that there are still some cases that have not been resolved since January.

“Remember there are many cases to process, 95,000 have been approved to date, and intensive work is being done to advance each case. Please continue to pursue legal avenues to immigrate to the United States,” the letter read. embassy.

“I’m safe in the lottery format group because I’m from January 31, I’ve been waiting for more than 100 days, anyway, I have to thank the best country in the world for this opportunity,” said one tweeter.

However, others consider it better to process by dates. “Simply, everything will be chronological. I pray that mine will be approved. February is my month. If it doesn’t coincidentally fall, if I have almost 90 days, chronologically I am still late in this country,” they commented.
