SAN DIEGO — Rookie Brett Sullivan hit his first career home run and added four RBIs, another unprecedented feat, as the San Diego Padres beat the Cincinnati Reds 7-1 on Wednesday night to win two of three in the series.

Juan Soto hit a three-run double, making up for a baserunning error that prevented Xander Bogaerts from setting a club record streak.

Seth Lugo pitched six strong innings for the Padres (3-2), who won seven of 10 in the weekend series against the division rival Los Angeles Dodgers.

This will be the first meeting between these California teams since the Padres swept the 111-win Dodgers in last season’s division series. Following that four-game winning streak, the Padres advanced to the National League Championship Series for the first time in 24 years.

Appearing in the morning game after playing the night before, Sullivan, 29, hit a two-run double down the right-field line with one out in the second inning. With two outs in the fourth, he hit a two-run home run.

His double drove in Luis Cessa (1-4) to score a run.

For the red team, Cuban Jose Barreiro 3-1.

For the Padres, Dominican Fernando Tadis Jr. drove in a run in a 4-0 run, while Soto went 2-1 with three RBIs. Venezuela scored two runs to make it 3-1.
