El Lyce was one step away from winning its first crown in the last six championships.

Jorge Alfaro once again donned the hero costume for the Cats, hitting a home run and a double, two-run doubles. The Tigers beat the Stars 3-1 at the Vargas Detelo last night to record just one win. Since 2016-17, they have dominated Dominican ball 5-4 over the Agulas. This is his 23rd crown

Although the game wasn’t over without the Stars hitting in the ninth, they put runners on third and first with two outs.

Alfaro got his offense going in the first with a solo homer against Stars starter Edwin Uzetta, then pushed in Ronnie Maurizio, who scored from first base after a double from the big high school booster. Sergio Alcantara was responsible for pushing Lycee home with a single in the fourth.

They took it upon themselves to dish out all the necessary punishment in front of seven All-Star pitchers.

Brooks Hall, the Blues’ starter, pitched solidly through the first five innings and got support from five other relievers to leave the Greens with one run and six hits.

The All-Star offense has fallen far behind in the last two games, not getting a turnover in either of them.

Lyceum once again played error-free and made none in the series, while its rival committed four errors and committed 8 in the event.

Hall was the winner, while Edwin Uzetta was the loser. Jairo Asensio finished fifth in the final and is one away from equaling the mark held by Dario Veras.

The only teams that have been able to recover from a 7-4 final series that has at least fallen to 1-3 are the 1987-88 All-Star selections. And the Eagles beat the Giants 4-1 in 2020-21.

Lacy didn’t expect much, turning between center and left fields against starter Uzetta in the same first inning with Alfaro’s homers.

The Cats scored one more in the top of the fourth, and two outs later, Dayron Blanco drew a walk, stole second and entered the race with a hit by Sergio Alcantara.

The Blues extended their lead to 3-0 in the top of the fifth by replacing Ronny Mauricio with two outs and Alfaro’s double down the left field line.

But in the bottom of that inning, the Pachyderms broke up Hall’s no-hitter in the first with another double connected by Robinson Cano and Levin Diaz.
