From October 31, WhatsApp will stop working on some cell phone brands due to updates to this popular messaging app owned by Meta, the company behind other social networks like Instagram or Facebook.

With over 2 billion users, WhatsApp is one of the most used mobile instant messaging apps in the world. In total, 41 cell phone models will be blacklisted from next month.

Thousands of people will be affected by these updates and if they connect from certain mobile devices from Samsung, Apple, LG, Sony, Motorola and Huawei, they will no longer be able to use the said “app”.

WhatsApp will stop working properly on phones with Android 4.0.1 or Apple iOS 12 as these systems are not compatible with the new updates.

To find out which operating system the devices are using, you need to access the Settings app and press the phone info option in the case of Android users. If the smartphone is Apple-branded, you need to access the Settings app, click on General and select the Software Update section.

According to Noted its developersThese cellphones can’t support the app because “the current functions that Meta Connect requires more internal storage capacity and intelligence.”

Although WhatsApp will continue to work on these devices, it will not be able to fix glitches or bugs. Among other updates, the app recently included polls in group and private chats and the ability to react to messages with emoticons.

Starting in early September, iPhone 6S, iPhone SE and iPhone 6S Plus users will not be able to use the messaging network properly. Neither are Huawei Ascend Mate, Huawei Ascend G740 and Huawei Ascend D2 owners. Other brands like Lenovo A820, ZTE V956 – UMI X2, ZTE Grand S Flex and ZTE Grand Memo are also affected.
