Roslyn threatens to strengthen into a hurricane as it nears Mexico

(CNN Spanish) –– Tropical Storm Roslyn is expected to strengthen into a hurricane on Friday as it approaches the west coast of Mexico. The latest forecast from the National Hurricane Center (NHC)..

Roslin was located about 305 kilometers south of Manzanillo in Mexico’s Colima province and was moving at 11 km/h, the report said. Its sustained winds are already gusting to 100 kmph explodes 120 km per hour

NHC Indian Roslyn will make landfall as a hurricane along Mexico’s midwest coast between Saturday night and part of Sunday, with strong winds and dangerous storm surge. Also, heavy rains can cause flash floods and landslides.

Roslin’s warnings

The Mexican government has issued a hurricane warning from Playa Perula in the state of Jalisco to Cabo Corrientes. A tropical storm warning for Manzanillo south of Playa Perula. A hurricane warning is also in place for the Marias Islands and San Blas to El Roblito.

Early this Friday morning, Mexico’s National Meteorological Center Indian Roslin’s cloud bands will “produce intense untimely rains in Colima, Michoacán and Guerrero, particularly strong in Jalisco, which may increase the level of rivers and streams, landslides and floods.” The agency added that the coasts of Jalisco, Michoacán, Colima and Guerrero were forecast to experience “winds of 60 to 80 km/h and waves of 2 to 4 meters high”.

Track forecasts point to Roslyn turning northwesterly Friday night and early Saturday, followed by a northward move and then a north-northeasterly turn Saturday night. The center of Rosslyn is expected to move parallel to the southwest coast of Mexico throughout this Friday.
