Where is the Earth and the entire solar system headed? | Sciences

The Earth and a large number of celestial bodies (planets, asteroids, comets, etc.) revolve around the Sun. Everything as a whole is what we know as the solar system, but it is not static.

Estimated NASAthe entire solar system, guided by the sun, is moving fast 230 kilometers per second Around the center of our galaxy, the Milky Way.

Filled with millions of stars and a supermassive black hole at its core, this bright region lies 25,000 light-years away.

So, while our planet completes one revolution around the sun in one year, orbiting around the galactic center takes us 230 million years.

But this journey is not so simple. Indeed, the solar system often stops where a distinct cosmic view is presented. And if humanity is not destroyed first, I can attest to this spectacle.

What is that next destination?

From above, the Solar System has a circular orbit around the center of the Milky Way. But if you look at it from the side, you will find that the star is located 55 light-years above the galactic plane.

This is because the Sun’s journey through the galaxy is not flat, but wavy: it moves up and down, tilted at an angle of 60 degrees relative to the Milky Way’s disk.

We are still very close to this level, so we can only see the length of the galaxy. But this scenario will change.

According to the calculations made by Frank BashProfessor Emeritus of Astronomy at the University of Texas at Austin, In 14 million yearsthe solar system will reach its maximum height (250 light-years) relative to the galactic plane.

At this point, if humanity continues to survive, you will have the opportunity to see the night sky, for the first time, The Milky Way in all its dimensionsdetails Stanford University.

During that future era, the galaxy would occupy a much larger portion of the sky. In the meantime, distant cosmic regions, which we cannot now observe due to dust and gas from the galactic disk, will finally become visible.

In the subsequent millions of years, the solar system will return to the galactic plane, move under it, and so on.
