The event was also attended by, among others, Pilar Pintor, delegate for culture in the Algeciras City Council (Cádiz); Ignacio Blanco, Celebrations and Outreach delegate for Tarifa City Council, as well as President of the Friends of Diverse Sciences, Anna Felicosa; Director of the Institute of Campogibraltareños Studies, Eduardo Briones; Director of the Straits Natural Park, Jorge Serradilla, and Miguel Angel Esteban, director of El Corte Inglés Bahía de Algeciras, according to the Consistory in a statement.
These awards are aimed at schoolchildren from educational centers in Algeciras and Tarifa and are awarded to the best work of this second edition of the Science and Arts Competition in this protected natural area in the categories of Early Childhood, Primary, Secondary, and Special Education.
In total, twelve prizes were awarded in recognition of the artwork of the three best students in each category. These awards are awarded through Parque Natural del Estrecho’s collaboration with the municipalities of Algeciras and Tarifa, the Society of Friends of Diverse Sciences, the Campogibraltareños Studies Institute, El Corte Inglés and the companies Turmares and Firmm.
The submitted works relate to the natural, cultural, landscape or socio-economic values of the Parque Natural del Estrecho. The call for this edition of the natural and ethnographic heritage has been thought to the archeology, migration processes of birds and marine species, the influence of winds and the diversity of flora and fauna, among other topics.
In the Bahía de Algeciras shopping center, in the exhibition area on the semi-basement of El Corte Inglés, the ten best drawings from each category are on display.
