Managua, Nov. 22 (EFE) .- The Nicaraguan government on Monday established a “free visa” for Cuban citizens as a “humanitarian” measure to benefit the Cuban people with relatives in Central America.

The Nicaraguan Interior Ministry’s resolution, which came into effect today and was released tonight, aims to facilitate business travel and family travel.

“Until Monday, November 22, 2021, a free visa has been established for all Cuban citizens to enter Nicaragua, in order to improve the number of requests of Cuban citizen brothers and relatives in Nicaragua and to enhance trade, tourism and humanitarian family ties,” the Interior Ministry said.

With this decision, Cubans will no longer have to pay the equivalent of $ 17.85 to obtain a 30-day, 90-day extended visa on the island of Nicaragua.

Cancellation of visa for Cuba does not require the islanders to explain the reason for the trip in order to obtain permission to travel to Nicaragua.

Nicaraguan authorities have not said whether Cubans will have to follow epidemic measures to enter Nicaragua.

Until the outbreak of Govit-19, Cuban citizens were living in Augusto c. It was customary to see people standing in line to return to Havana with several shopping bags at the Santino International Airport.

Nicaragua and Cuba have had close political ties since the Central American nation was ruled by President Daniel Ortega between 1979 and 1990, and since 2007.

Both countries are part of the Bolivarian Alliance for the People of Our United States – the Alpha-TCP Agreement. EFE
