Uber Eats completed its first food delivery to the International Space Station, in outer space, expanding the global company’s footprint beyond the earth’s surface and into the thermosphere.

This was made possible by a collaboration between Uber Eats and Japanese businessman and delivery fan, Yusaku Maezawa, who personally delivered typical Japanese food to astronauts on the International Space Station, as part of their 12-day orbit.

This delivery was made on December 11 at 09:40 in the morning, after having traveled 248 miles, 8 hours and 34 minutes since Maezawa left Earth.

“It’s a small delivery for Yusaku Maezawa; a giant delivery for Uber Eats! ”, Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said. “We are beyond excited to have helped bring the first successful Uber Eats delivery to space. Our goal is to help people go where they want and get what they want, no matter where they are. That is why we are proud to be able to bring a piece of the earth to astronauts on the International Space Station. Yusaku Maezawa was definitely rated five stars on this installment, even though it took a little longer than the usual 30 minutes. “
