There are already 10 hospitals in Oaxaca without space for more Covid-19 patients; there are 155 boarding schools

Oaxaca de Juárez.- In the midst of a rebound in infections and active cases of Covid-19, Oaxaca registers 42.9% hospital occupancy, which means that there are 10 Covid medical units that present 100% saturation, that is, they do not have more space to receive new patients with a positive diagnosis for coronavirus, according to official data.

The Oaxaca Health Services (SSO) indicate that in the last 24 hours, 10 new patients were hospitalized, for a total of 155 people hospitalized due to virus complications.

The health sector report indicates that there are 50 thousand 684 accumulated infections; in terms of deaths, there were 4,019 deaths. Of the total number of infections, 1,247 people suffer from the disease in the transmissibility stage, mainly residents of the municipalities of Oaxaca de Juárez, Salina Cruz, San Pedro Mixtepec -District 22-, Santa Cruz Xoxocotlán and Ciudad Ixtepec.

This July 15, 61 municipalities were counted with the presence of new cases, the most affected localities continue to be those with the largest population and in which there is a greater mobility of people, in the first place, Oaxaca de Juárez with 51 new patients, Santa Cruz Xoxocotlán with 19, Salina Cruz with 17, San Pedro Mixtepec –District 22- with 15, San Juan Bautista Tuxtepec with 13, Heroica Ciudad de Juchitán de Zaragoza with 12 and Santo Domingo Tehuantepec with 10.

Valles Centrales reported the highest number of positives by reporting 33 thousand 450 confirmed and one thousand 921 deaths, the Isthmus 5 thousand 354 and 789 deaths, Tuxtepec 3 thousand 086 and 355 deaths, the Coast 2 thousand 845 and 319 deaths, the Mixteca 4 thousand 148 and 409 human losses, as well as the Sierra 1,801 and 226 deaths.

Given the figures, the SSO urge municipal presidents to comply with the recommended health protocols, to contain and prevent infections of the new coronavirus.

The SSO details that from epidemiological week 23 -from June 13 to 19- to date, there is an increase of 34% in new cases.

Until the July 14 cutoff, there are 72 localities that do not present positive cases of infectious disease, thanks to the efforts of containment by the authorities and the strict application of protection measures for their inhabitants.
