The crew of China’s Shenzhou XIII mission will soon give their second open lecture to students from around the world from the orbiting Tiangong space station, China’s manned space agency reports.

The Chinese Manned Space Agency said in a statement issued on Tuesday that the conference will be held in the coming days and will be broadcast live to the whole world. The astronauts will carefully plan the event and address the topics requested by the public.

The Shenzhou XIII mission team, Major General Zhai Zhigang, Colonel Wang Yaping and Colonel Yi Guangfu, held their first open conference from Tiangong Station in December as they traveled in an orbit of about 400 km.

They showed how to live and work inside the station, which consists of a base unit, a human-classified spacecraft, and two robotic cargo vehicles.

The astronauts conducted experiments to show interesting physical phenomena that occur in space, such as “disappearing buoyancy” and “water polo”. Before ending the live broadcast, they answered the students’ questions.

Millions of primary and secondary school students from all over China participated in the 60-minute televised event, which was organized by the China Manned Space Agency, the Ministry of Education and other government departments.

Invited student groups from Beijing, Nanning, Wenchuan, and special administrative regions of Hong Kong and Macao participated and interacted with the astronauts via video conference.

It was the first lecture in the Tiangong (Heavenly Palace) Lecture Series, a Chinese lecture project from outer space aimed at spreading space science.
