Important organizations have recognized the work of women who disseminate science on topics of societal interest. Our columnist Sole Gori was among them and she explained this in her column on C5N.

By Solly Juri

It’s a prize and I love that name. We scientists (myself included) love science and are passionate about it but we also love communicating it, we love communicating science and we believe that is a very important thing to accurately express how important it is to have science in our lives. The country, for example. In different ways, in different forms, and in different formats, we spread science and communicate science.

This award is organized by the Cultural Center of Science, MinCyt, the Argentine-French Institute, Conicet, the French Embassy and supported by Sanofi this year. It is the second edition of this award and now honors Sarah Rettie, who was our country’s first female nuclear chemist, born in the 1930s and one of the few female scientists to exist in the golden age of public universities.

There were twelve of us in all, and it was at the French Embassy, and there the prizes were handed out and there were three winners, one for each category: the cheerleading category, which is the one I participated in for example, which is up to 15 years of training, and the winner was Dana Maria Negrete Borja . The Professional category, where those with more than 15 years of professional experience competed, Bibiana Vila won. This year’s new category, Health Communications – Sanofi, was won by Florencia Labombarda, who also had more than 15 years of experience.

12 of us were invited quite a bit, received prizes and had a great time at the French Embassy. Therefore, regardless of the number of female scientists, they publish and advance research.
