ARLINGTON, Texas, USA — Corey Seager continues to hit deep balls in the postseason for Texas. This time, he’s doing it with the Rangers on a roll in October.

Seager and Adolis Garcia both hit early home runs, Nathan Eovaldi went 7 in 7 innings during another decisive playoff game, and Texas beat the Baltimore Orioles 7-1 in the AL Division Series. tuesday

The Rangers, who lost in Seattle on the final day of the regular season, have won five of their playoff games, condemning them to advance with a wild-card ticket rather than the American League West champions.

They would go on to the American League Championship Series, a feat they had not accomplished since 2011.

“We had to continue the tour to Tampa and Baltimore. It shows the resilience of this club… Believe me, my players were desperate to win one more game. It didn’t happen… but they’ve put this behind them,” the Rangers manager said. Bruce Bochy, a three-time World Series champion with San Francisco, insisted.

Baltimore won 101 games, the most in the American League, and did not win a series during the regular season. However, the East Division champions lose a sweep at the most inopportune time and are eliminated.

The Orioles have lost eight straight playoff games over the past 10 seasons.

“I’m very proud of our team. They beat all the odds. Nobody gave us a chance,” Baltimore manager Brandon Hyde said. “These guys worked hard for six months. Unfortunately, we haven’t played well in these last three games.”

Seager sent the ball 445 feet from the plate into the right field seats in the first inning. Garcia’s three-run homer took a few slow steps outside the batter’s box and let the ball fly.

That home run made it 6-0 in the second inning off right-hander Dean Creamer, an Israeli-American pitcher making his first start of the season.

“We’ve been playing good ball,” Seager said. “I don’t have enough words to describe what our pitching staff was able to do.”

It was the Rangers’ first playoff game in 2020 at the debuting Globe Life Field, which has hosted much of the postseason as a neutral venue during the pandemic.

The Los Angeles Dodgers spent most of that October at the plate, and Seager was the most valuable player in both the National League Championship Series and the World Series.

A year later, when Texas was coming off a 102-loss season, the shortstop signed a 10-year, $325 million contract with the Rangers. He occupies the same box as in that strange postseason with a smaller audience.

For the Orioles, Venezuelan Anthony Santander is 3-1. Dominican Jorge Mateo 1-0.

For the Rangers, Cuba Garcia went 2-for-4 with a run and three RBI. Dominican Leodi Taveras 4-0.
