Pints, knowing, taste better again in the black room

The Pint of Science (Pos) 2022 Festival kicked off Monday in Sala Negra (c/Lardero nº 35) with an intervention from Lorena Pérez and Pepa Castillo, two professors from the University of La Rioja, who spoke about the relationship between the use of language and the image of women today and the figure of Roman Emperor Nero.

This activity is organized by the University of La Rioja, the Faculty of Masters and Doctoral Studies (EMYDUR), the Instituto de la Rioja Studies and the La Rioja Regional Department of the Royal Spanish Society of Chemistry; It is supported by the Unit for Scientific Culture and Innovation (UCC+i) and the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT) – Ministry of Science and Innovation.

The Pint of Science Festival sessions consisted of two conversations, with University of La Rioja Professor of Mathematics, and RTVE “Órbita Laika” presenter, Eduardo Saez de Cabezon, as director of the festivities.

This Tuesday the festival will be devoted to health. Maria de Toro, head of the CIBIR Genomics and Bioinformatics platform, will teach us how pathogens like COVID are effectively tracked, and Ruth Lopez de Decastillo, from San Pedro Hospital, will ask us: What is bromate science?

To close the festival, the public will be able to enjoy the afternoon of the eleventh where two professors from the University of La Rioja will transfer us from computer science to chemistry. On the one hand, Jonathan Heras will reveal the entrances and the whole of artificial intelligence, and Hector Posto will reveal the chemical compounds that make us live longer and better.
